Fourth Quarter – 2025
Hello! I got married in October.
✨ ✨ ✨
It was very nice. We are now square with the Lord!
Outings
We didn’t really have a honeymoon planned, but we did spend a day out in Sutton, enjoying the town, weather, and scenery. A few pictures from our hike made it into the bottom half of this album.
Cabin in the woods
Later in the month, I visited the Pounding the Pavement street photography exhibit at the McCord Museum. Absolutely incredible, historical, inspirational stuff, and I was motivated to do more street photography myself; you can see some first attempts here.
Aristides de Sousa Mendes, et al.
In early November, we meandered through the Jardins de lumière at the Botanical Gardens. It was a dreamlike experience, thoroughly recommended if you have an evening & weather permits.
Mythical creatures
Finally, I took a calm Friday morning to walk out to the Fonderie Darling, for an exhibit on women- and indigenous-led resistances. Wonderful space for it.

Film & TV
I watched Our Blood is Wine on someone’s recommendation, but everyone I suspected of being that person has said that they’ve never heard of it. Which is unfortunate, because I’d like to thank them―it’s a beautiful film. The documentary doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary in terms of structure, but the history, tradition, and community on display really affected me.
I re-watched Pi for the first time in… well, over a decade, at least. It had left a sour taste in my mouth, probably somewhere back in CEGEP or undergrad, when I was (more of) a fool. Happy I re-evaluated it, though… really strong movie on a miser’s budget. Plus, Clint Mansell’s soundtrack is out of control.
I also watched Son of the White Mare (Fehérlófia), which was just a treat. Pay humans to make art, I says.
Feast
Oh, I’m also coming into the final stretch of Star Trek: Enterprise with my partner wife, alongside the Greatest Gen rewatch. I fell off the series when it first aired, only coming back for the (regrettable) finale; but I feel like I’m somewhat coming around on it, at least in this fourth season. Would love it if the writers remembered that Hoshi and Travis exist, mind.
Games
a house in the sky is a beautiful little tool/toy. I remember reading George Saunders talk about composing a short story in terms of building a train set and watching the unexpected stories and synergies emerge. AHITS feels a little (a lot) like that, and I enjoyed the experience.

I also played through Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye, finally. I’d been putting it off for my usual reasons―fear of not liking it enough, fear of having nothing to say, fear of not being good enough. Anyway, while it has some frustrating points (and I think I do prefer the base game), it’s still ambitious, surprising, and entirely worthwhile. ❤️ Mobius.
Oh, and how can I forget: we announced Young Suns! Very eager to share more about it, as the occasion arises.
That about covers the end of 2025, on a personal level. Hope everyone’s having a wonderful holiday.
Happy new year, for those who celebrate, and join me in January for another exciting year in review.
