Photography – August 2025
I was at a housewarming party a few months back, and met a retired photographer who immediately clocked my Nikon. We got to talking, and eventually talking about cycling as well. He mentioned that photography & cycling are two very complimentary hobbies, and I admitted it was something I’d been meaning to look into. To date, I’ve never found what seemed like the right solution for carrying my camera out on longer trips—something simple to use with (attach to?) my bike, but also quick enough to take spontaneous pictures.
Anyway, the conversation rattled around my head for a bit. I did some searching online, found a number of options—front saddle, backpack, under-sling, pannier, back saddle—but also found a guy who just carries it right on the shoulder strap.
For ease of use, I think this latter might be the option for me. The viewfinder can get a little steamed up at times, but that’s a quick clean and you’re shooting again. This roll of film was the first one I took biking with me, and I think there will be many others.
Nikon FM-2 & Kodak ColorPlus 200 film, with some processing in darktable.
